If your smile is incomplete because you have one or more missing teeth, you’re not alone. Millions of adults live with the difficulty and the self-consciousness of missing teeth. However, thanks to dental implants, this need not be the case. With dental implants, Dr. Joe Isaacson has restored many a smile in and around Oklahoma City, OK, and he can do the same for you!
Dental Implants for a Natural-looking Smile
Although there are other types of tooth restoration—crown and bridgework, full and partial dentures—a dental implant is the most lifelike replacement. That’s because dental implants not only replace the crown of a tooth (the part that’s visible), but the root, too. As such, you have a tooth replacement that looks natural and provides the stability you want for when you speak and eat.
People having missing teeth for a number of reasons—extensive tooth decay, traumatic injury, root canal failure, congenital defects and gum disease. No matter the reason, replacing missing teeth is important. You’ll consult with Dr. Isaacson to determine whether or not you are a good candidate for dental implants. If yes, then you are on your way back to having a complete and healthy smile.
The Dental Implant Procedure
Your dental implant procedure begins with the surgical implantation of a titanium post in the jawbone beneath the open tooth socket. This post not only serves as the “root” of your new tooth, but also stimulates the jawbone, thereby averting bone deterioration. As you heal, the post and your jawbone fuse together in a process called osseointegration. Dr. Isaacson will likely place a temporary crown over the post until you’ve healed. Then, you’ll return to our office for Dr. Isaacson to place your custom-designed, hand-crafted permanent crown.

According to the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, approximately 69 percent of American adults between the ages of 35 and 44 have lost a minimum of one permanent tooth. There are a number of reasons a person might lose a tooth, including advanced periodontal disease, an injury, extensive tooth decay, or a root canal that has failed. Replacing missing teeth with dental implants is one of the most popular and preferred ways to rebuild a broken smile, whether it’s a single tooth or an entire arch. At his family-friendly dental office in Oklahoma City, OK, Dr. Joe Isaacson helps his patients reclaim their smiles and their overall oral health with the advanced technology of dental implants.
The Importance of Replacing Missing Teeth
If you have lost even a single tooth and haven’t yet had it replaced, your gums and other teeth are being negatively impacted by its absence. The teeth that surround the space where you tooth once stood will gradually begin to shift, creating problems like unusual gaps and crowding. It may become difficult to speak clearly or eat the foods you need to keep yourself healthy.
In addition to issues that affect function, missing teeth can dramatically diminish your sense of self-confidence and self-image. You may find that you feel insecure or embarrassed to smile around others; this can harm both personal and professional relationships as well.
Fortunately, replacing missing teeth with dental implants can solve all of these problems and more. A biocompatible titanium post is placed within the gum and the jaw, serving as a new root for your replacement tooth or teeth. A porcelain crown, denture, or partial denture is then affixed to the anchored post, completing your beautiful new restoration. You can eat, speak, and smile confidently once again!

We all knows that accidents happen – often when we least expect it. Your oral health isn’t immune to this principle, either. Even for people who diligently brush and floss, a shocking injury or spot of hidden decay can have sudden, devastating effects if not cared for swiftly. That’s why Dr. Joe Isaacson is sure to provide emergency dental care at his Oklahoma City office. Our dedicated team will always try our best to see your emergency case the same day you call in, whether you’ve completely knocked out a tooth or are experiencing sudden pain in your mouth. Here are some steps for what you should do before you reach us when faced with common dental emergencies:
First, rinse the tooth gently with water; be sure not to pull off any pieces of tissue! If you can, place it back in its socket until you can reach our office. If this simply isn’t possible, placing it in a cup or plastic bag of milk is a viable alternative. Be sure to bring it with you! Once you’re here, we can determine whether reattachment is a viable option.
Rinse your tooth with warm water and then hold a cold compress against it. This should help reduce the swelling while you travel to our office.
Rinse your mouth as exhaustively as possible and floss all around the tooth that’s in pain; this could help dislodge any debris that may be causing the problem. If the feeling isn’t relieved, call our office.
Losing a Temporary Crown
Did you lose it? If not, dry your tooth, apply a small amount of toothpaste to the crown, and place it back in its original spot. Then, call our office so that we can schedule a time for you to come in; then, we can reattach it more effectively.

Whether it happens because of age, trauma, or simply less-than-perfect oral hygiene, losing one tooth or more is never fun. Simple, everyday activities that were once a breeze can become frustratingly difficult, such as eating or speaking clearly. Even worse, it can shatter your self-confidence, making it hard to speak, smile, or even interact with the world around you. There are restorative solutions such as dentures or partials, sure – but they can often be ill-fitting and uncomfortable, as well as a constant, bulky reminder that your natural teeth are a thing of the past. While we can’t turn back the clock here at our Oklahoma City office, Dr. Isaacson and his excellent team can offer you the next best thing – dental implants. With the help of dental implants, you can finally have the seamless, stable smile you deserve.
A Brand New Look, a Brand New Life
Dental implants are a revolutionary new restorative technique, and one that patients from all walks of life have embraced as their go-to method for replacing missing teeth safely and effectively. The process is simple enough – once we determine that you’re a viable candidate for dental implants, we’ll surgically place the implants in their optimal position. While several dentists have to refer their patients to outside surgeons in order to complete this stage of the treatment, Dr. Isaacson is an implant dentist and can take you through every step of the dental implant process in one convenient location – his Oklahoma city office. Then, once an appropriate amount of time has passed for the implants to naturally fuse with the jawbone, all that’s left is to attach your new, natural-looking replacements.
Dental implants have several additional benefits as well. Most importantly, they help to stimulate new growth of the jawbone. When a tooth and its root are lost, the jawbone no longer has any purpose there and begins to deteriorate. Dental implants are one of the only restorative techniques that actually replaces the root of the tooth too, keeping the jawbone whole and strong. In addition, dental implants are stable, comfortable, incredibly lifelike, and, if cared for properly, can last a lifetime.
Are you ready to start sharing your smile with the world again? Don’t let missing teeth ruin your day – Dr. Isaacson and his team are committed to providing you with safe, effective, and personalized service, whether you need dental implants, dentures, or a different dental service altogether. Call our office today with any questions you may have, or if you’re ready to schedule an appointment. We serve patients from Oklahoma City, Edmond, Yukon, Piedmont, and Mustang.
